THE ART & TECHNIQUE OF ISADORA DUNCAN
Winter-Spring 2024 Term
Class Offerings for Toddlers, Preschoolers, Youth, and Teens/Adults
The choreographic etudes of Isadora Duncan explore, through the action/rest continuum, the dynamic relationship between affiliation and solitude. Celebrating Nature’s unity and rhythm, these dances, remembering ancient rituals and archetypes, are simultaneously tribal and divine. The indomitable human spirit, ever hopeful, is present in this choreography and in all true healing. Duncan Dance classes for children offer a non-competitive environment designed to encourage healthy emotional, creative, and physical development. Dicki Johnson Macy, Ph.D., BC-DMT, LMHC, IDMA, has for the past 30+ years encouraged children trained in this technique to remain responsive to beautiful music and to the joyful movements inspired by nature.
The Department of Mental Health (DMH) in partnership with the Massachusetts School Mental Health Consortium (MASMHC), the International Trauma Center (ITC), Boston Children’s Foundation, and the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) is excited to continue offering professional development opportunities designed to improve schools’ and districts’ use of evidence-based practices to support student mental health and well-being. Training sessions will be offered periodically throughout the 23-24 school year. Participants can enroll in one or more training series. All training series are free of charge and will be offered virtually. Linked below are the info sheets for each training opportunity. Two informational sessions have been scheduled to orient teams to the available professional development and to provide a forum for feedback and to answer questions. Please join us at one of the orientations sessions scheduled for October 3 at 11:00 or October 12 at 3:00 and review the 2022-23 PD offerings below:
