SUMMARY:The Guardians of Isadora at the Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a celebration of art and movement next Thursday evening\, July 26\, 2018 at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. A special exhibit showcasing the ancient Farnese Sarcophagus has been recently created\, offering guests a unique opportunity to view the piece from all four sides. Surrounding the marble sarcophagus are elaborately sculpted figures depicting Grecian maenads and satyrs. Excitingly\, the Isadora Duncan repertoire of dances brings these figures to life through dances such as the Bacchanale\, The Three Graces\, The Tanagra\, and more! The Guardians of Isadora dance troupe will be performing two dance sets as an introduction and conclusion to the curator’s talk about this incredible artifact. Celebrating Nature’s unity and rhythm\, these dances\, remembering ancient rituals and archetypes\, are simultaneously tribal and divine.  The indomitable human spirit\, ever hopeful\, is present in this choreography\, and in all true healing.  \nDuncan Dance classes for children offer a non competitive environment designed to encourage healthy emotional\, creative\, and physical development. Dicki Johnson Macy BC-DMT\, M.Ed.\,LMHC\, IDMA\, has for the past 25 years\, encouraged children trained in this technique\, to remain responsive to beautiful music and to the joyful movements inspired by nature. Self esteem\, grace\, reverence\, reciprocity and artistry are inherent to the work. The term Trauma Informed Care is the new mandate\, but defining it and implementing it across systems of care is often confusing. The needs of individuals struggling with post traumatic challenges and those who care for them are often not well defined.
