Throughout the Rainbowdance program we always invite classroom teachers to participate. For the child in full time daycare or school environment, the teacher becomes a key caregiver and attachment figure. They model their behaviors based on the environment that teachers provide. When teachers join with the Rainbowdance group leader, they complete that sense of warmth and community with the adults in their life.
We begin a relationship with a new site by orienting the teachers to the goals of Rainbowdance through an in-service presentation. Teachers bring tools back to their classroom including, songs, stories, music and soothing activities. These songs, skills and self-soothing strategies are also carried home and can be encouraged by the parents. To help facilitate this continuity we offer parents opportunities to come and join their children around the parachute.
