BCF’s solution is an integrated model of psychosocial activity, expressive therapy arts, and multi-modal psychological interventions such as trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). The culture of violence is inherently physical but the effects play out in the mind and body and require solutions that target the complete picture of a child’s wellness. BCF’s response goes beyond play therapy to provide intentional physical-psychological interventions. Children are sensory learners and players by nature. The visceral lessons they learn, by fear or by productive social bonding will stay with them into adulthood. Therefore, BCF created and researched interventions that utilize psychosocial, trauma sensitive sensorimotor activities, storytelling and ritual narrative in a way that transcends linguistic, cultural or socio-economic divides to create a safety container post trauma that supports empathy, prosocial behaviors and healing.
