AFFILIATES & ADVISORS

Boston Childrens Foundation, in affiliation with its Disaster Management partners, the International Center for Disaster Resilience and the Halo Corporation, are uniting to provide strategic disaster relief efforts for Haiti. Many victims displaced by the Port-au-Prince (PAP) catastrophe are migrating to the Haitian Isle of La Gonâve, immediately adjacent to PAP. The populous on La Gonâve, along with the recent large influx of refugees from PAP are desperate for food, water and medical assistance. Following the 7.0 Richter earthquake in PAP and a succession of aftershocks in Haiti, La Gonâve Isle was itself at the epicenter of a 6.1 earthquake 20 January.
La Gonâve is heavily dependent upon PAP for food. Clean water is scarce, especially following the earthquake. There are about 56,000 people in the largest municipality with over 120,000 people resident on the Haitian island. Supply lines from PAP have been cut for obvious reasons. La Gonâve also sustained damage from the initial quake, injuring many in the process. Refugees from PAP continue to add to the population of the Island.
BCF and its operational partners will establish a staging base at the airstrip near the port on La Gonâve to provide a safe and open medical and relief sanctuary for La Gonâve and PauP. Our Team has personnel in PauP at this time to assist with the efforts at ground zero. We are in close contact with Haitian authorities as well as US Embassy authorities to advance our relief mission for both PauP and La Gonâve.
Our Partners and Sustainers include Harvard Medical School Disaster Medicine Doctors and Fellows, the International Center for Disaster Resilience-Boston, The International Board for the Advancement of Medicine, the Leadership of La Gonâve and The people of La Gonâve.
Please consider donating funds or critical supplies to the Boston Childrens Foundation to help Our Haiti Mission succeed. Your donations will bring immediate and direct medical and humanitarian relief and recovery to tens of thousands of Haitian children and their families.
Boston Childrens Foundation is a 501 (C)(3) Public Charity
